Thread: Getting paid by Clickbank...how long did it take you?

Hi all,

I'm having a bit of strife with Clickbank and I'm trying to see if anyone eles is in a similar quandary. As it stands, I have a small site and I'm promoting (as an affiliate) a product where I've made 6 sales over the last month and a half. Nothing spectacular I know, but that's not why I'm writing this. As it stands, 5 of the six people have paid via paypal, yet CB states that they will not release any money from an account until :

a) 5 different CC#s are used to purchase products, and
b) two different methods are used (ie Mastercard, Visa, PayPal, etc)

however, paying by PP does not count towards the 5 CC#s...WTF ?!?!?!?!?

By this logic, if I had a thousand sales and everyone paid via PP, would that mean that I would never get paid the commissions I'm owed. I know I would rather pay via PP as it is safer, but isn't PP attached to your CC# anyway?

As it stands, does this mean that I still have to wait and HOPE (!!!!)that 4 more people will pay via CC (even though PP is safer and more convenient!) so I can get paid? I've got over $200 waiting, but at this rate I'll never actually get it. Plus, if my account goes dormant CB will start taking money away from the account, all because people would rather pay by PP.

One of the "solutions" put to me from CB was to "disable the buyers ability to use PayPal"...well duh !! but can you explain how I could do this if I am the bloody AFFILIATE ??????(even though my original enquiry stated that I was an affiliate). Is it me or are they bloody idiots at CB???

Has anyone else been in this situation?

I'm sure we have ALL been in this situation since it is CB policy...and I am in it with you right now. I, too, would be interested if there is a way to break this barrier to getting paid!

Friends and family have been known to purchase products also ,using CCs and being the good friend or family member that you are you reimbursed them as a gift.Family members with different last names can be asked for favors.A costly measure approach if your commission is less than 50% .Don't let CB find out I told you.
If there is a possibility to sell a product with a coupon code for reduced cost [eg: payout basket shows $0 to complete purchase] then you only lose the transaction fee.

Why this long standing policy is in effect I do not know but it has been discussed in this forum before.

I think you have to wait 60 days after your first sale incase the person request their money back. After the 60 days you get paid ever two week after the 60 day wait. I don't remeber what is called but it seemed to take forever to get my first payment. But after I did I get checks every two weeks.

I am having this same problem with Clickbank and I am thinking of not promoting any clickbank programs at all, All the money I had from commissions in CB has expired because I didn't have the required number of different CC #s from different people. So I lost over $100 in commissions.

It took me a year after the very first sale
that I made.

Thankfully, the first 4 customers had different CC.
The 5th customer used Paypal.

So, I purchased a CB product using my affiliate link
with my husband CC.

ClickBank policy is tough.

Yes I have $135 sitting in clickbank and have not got mine yet.
I will have to try and make some more sales. It has got harder.
Can you imagine the money they are just sitting on waiting to send out.
Probably could buy a jet or two.
I remember 18months ago I got a cheque off them for $14.75us and it cost me $10au. to cash it.
Then im thinking thats not a good business model.

Im interested on how we could break those barriers for getting paid..

Oh this is something that I did not know. Unfortunately for us South Africans - we can not use anything else than clickbank - well not that I know of, because paypal does not work in SA.

You didn't hear this from me but you can purchase prepaid debit cards and purchase products you are considering selling and kill two birds with one stone.

Walmart and other retailers sell the cards and I use them to purchase everything off the Internet because when you spend the money you put on the card, they can't get any more.

Just an option to get things started. CB can take forever and cost you a ton in lost commissions when you are starting out.

I would think CB could come up with a system that punishes the fraudulent people rather than we hard-working honest folks just trying to eke out a living!

I have been waiting for months to get paid, as everyone keeps using Paypal and I can't get the various CC numbers they insist on.

Oops...I didn't mean to give a thumbs up to Clickbank!!!!

Hope that little insight helps ya'll. I would guess that CB makes a few mil a year on folks who make a few sales and give up because they can't get the first check.

Btw, what I suggested above is totally on the up and up. I just like to feel sneaky sometimes when it comes to beat the "system"!

It's amazing what just a little spark can do sometimes. At least they do pay like clockwork after you get through the hurdles the first time.

Good luck and don't forget to ask if you have a problem, sometimes the answer is only a few keystrokes away.

Yep, It's a real pain. I had the same situation for my first clickbank cheque with over a grand sitting in there.

In the end I found the cheapest product I could find and got two more credit card purchasers to buy it for me. A week later I had got the cc sales anyway but still.

Just replace the zzzzz with your own affiliate link. There are actually two books there. The cheapest one is on cookie dough and is $5.99 so it costs you about 3.20 after getting your commission.

Hey...am I excited! I just found a great little e-book that shares some really important Clickbank information I wish I had known about months ago! At last I'm on my way to getting that first check for commissions that have been sitting there forever. Those of you facing the same issue should take a look. You know, I like Clickbank except for their awkward "first check" policy...and it will make sense once we are past it.

What is clickbank? What do you do ? Is it a work at home job ?

Clickbank is a marketplace used to sell digital products (e-books, software etc.) created by internet marketers (most of us on this site). Products are available to be sold as an affiliate and it's open to everyone. Take a look at clickbank dot com - you will need to insert this into your browser in the usual manner, but I wrote it out as links will still be blocked for you here on the forum.

I have been searching hi and lo for that pdf on my hard drive. Its a really good idea. Thanks for the share.

I'm currently waiting for one more sale from a credit card so I can be paid. Guess I could always just find like a $3 product and buy it through my aff link with my own credit card...

when I start white clickbank I was having the same problem ! but for your answer
if you have 100 sales only white paypal don't worry they paid your commission
