Well, here's where the honesty comes in...
I am not quite at 200 subscribers yet...and, I'd like to get the response rate up before I bother anyone to ad swap.
I just want to feel like I have something of value to offer...don't want to get off on the wrong side right off....

But, I am saving your response

...working hard at building that list...(I am in another Giveaway) and getting a brand new e-book done for me so when I am ready I have something of value that I can put on my squeeze page ;)

Thanks Tom...you made my day! (and you will hear from me in the future ;)

Hi Marilyn...once again..right on. Another marketer just told me the other day that in Alex Jeffrey's class the students started to ad swap with 200 on their list.
But, as you said...the most important thing is honesty about your list and the response you get.

@Tom how low do you go because I'm really intimidated because my list is very small as a result I cant ask for s swap with people who have 1000s

I agree totally. Be honest and you will find that most marketer's don't care what list size you have and will be glad to swap. I know I don't. My list is a 1000 and I swap with people who's list sizes are less than half of mine.

    Marilyn,

    Good comprehensive list.

If I could add one thing it's this: depending on the amount of traffic that is going to be coming to that giveaway event, I always recommend to my readers that they take the upgrade, not only does it allow them to add more than one gift (multiple list building opportunity), but it also adds money to my paypal account when they upgrade under me.

As you said, I always like seeing the emails from paypal telling me I've received a payment...who doesn't?

    Ron
Too right matey, if you are serious about list building it is the only way to do it once you've sussed out the mechanics of the thing. Get 3 or 4 gifts organised and get rolling!

I have recently started to take part in giveaways, and this month I am involved in 3 giveaways at the same time. I am averaging about 10 - 12 opt ins per day, which may not sound a lot, but the giveaways I am in are running for the whole of May.

So even if you reduce my optin average to 7 per day, and I have not had below 8 per day this month, over 31 days of May I am looking to end up with an estimated opt in of over 210 new subscribers from giveaways alone.

For your add swaps, a good tip is to look for people that may have double the size of your list. You then offer to do an add swap with them but offer to post to your list twice for them. So they would post to thier list once, and you would post their ad copy to your list once in the morning and once again in early evening.

I was using Giveaways for a while to build a base for my list as well as a bit of self branding and promotion - the branding and promotion worked well all the product I used for the giveaways where my own creation (as they generally have to be) and came with giveaway right (no copying or editing allowed). This turns out to have a nice viral effect (if the product is good enough).

My only issue with the whole system is that most people that sign up for your free be do what I do and use a 'swipe' email account so when you start mailing them about your next big product you get a very low click rate.

I'm under the impression that most people that are involved in these are in it for the same reasons I am either as a contributor or as 'give me free stuff'er'

    Hi! marilyn808
You seem to be a giveawy event guru so I would appreciate you help.
Hi! One week ago I joined a Giveaway event “Victoria Day JV Giveaway” ,write descriptions, uploaded a gift waited for review and days later my entry was deleted.
I just do not remember exact words of an email from administrator.

It seems that to take part in an event There are conditions ie. You must do marketing OR referring someone to the event, or sending out emails to your existing subscribers.
I remember there were some premade email texts ready for just copy and paste.

This was not spelt out before registration and I found out something like this after I registered and logged in AND I FOUND OUT THOSE FINE PRINTS IN THE MEMBER SITE AFTER LOGIN.
So They got my email address and I got nothing.
    This really gets me.

I just started Affiliate internet marketing 2 months ago part time and I do not Have existing list to send out their premade emails.

Please respond this post to TELL ME THE NAMES OF EVENTS WHO DO NOT REQUIRE ANY OF THESE i.e I just register and wait for possible optin.

    Hi herok

The total idea of giveaway events is to build your own list and those with the larger lists will always benefit more than if you have a small list. However, giveaway events are like any other form of marketing ie you must plan properly first.

Always check the terms and conditions (if they are inside the event, you can always un-subscribe), match your product to the theme of the event, ensure you have a quality product to provide (one recent event had mainly products that arrived on the ark), have you checked your delivery system via your autoresponder, have you monetized your download page or are you offering an OTO.

Your marketing of giveaway events does not have just be email maketing. Have you a blog? Most events provide banners to place on blogs and other websites (the script contains your affiliate link). Some of the scripts now provide Twitter marketing plus if you're into using other social bookmarking programs post on those with your affiliate link for the event.

Once you have folks on your sub-scriber list you must look after them with suitable follow-up emails without spamming them.

If you don't have your own product, there are many avenues to obtain free PLR products you can personalize to make your own and use in giveaway events.

    Neil

PS. My signature has a link to a list of giveaway events if you want to try thia avenue of marketing again.

Thank you very much for your reply.

I have a eBook gift and aweber has been already set up and if some one optin, instantly confirmation email goes out , download link will be supplied and download can be in a minute. The first website(squeeze page in the signature box below was used for the Viktoria Event and all were well technically or administration wise.

What I would like to know is what the conditions are to be kept registered.

MY UNDERSTANDING IS The reason for deletion is the event requires contributors to do marketing and if it is not satisfactory, you are deleted.
Lastly again thank you for your post and I will have a look at your events.

    Herok
Ps You are talking about Banners etc which indicates special marketing conditions are imposed to contributors!?

    Herok

Each and every giveaway can set their own conditions so each time you have to check their requirements., For some events, the conditions make it near impossible for contributors with no or small list to achieve the requirements to submit a gift. Forget these - there are many others without such strigent conditions.

Banners and suggested emails are there to assist you in marketing the events. If no contributor marketed the event, there would be no members signing up that might want your gift thus being added to your mailing list. To gain the benefit from other contributors you have to assist in marketing the event as well. Self help!

Like all marketing, it takes a while to get used to it. Keep at it and you'll reap the benefits.

One other suggestion: don't restrict yourself to one gift. Set up say 6 to cover various niches and then people browsing these events wont see the same one from you all the time.

Thank you for your reply again.
Would you do me a favor lastly?
Can you tell me how many entry/registration/subscription from Publishers and Members for you are required minimum TO BE NOT DELETED from events?
    Just in general.
    I visited your site
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
    and saw your marketing efforts.

You have a list so you might not be worried about, but I do not have a list so I might not be able to recruit minimum numbers required
And it is likely I will be deleted so I would like this info for my future reference

Your direct quote below explained me perfectly why you have to market events.
    <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Also your suggestion to have many gift is so true.
When I first registered Viktoria Day event, there was someone giving away the same eBook as mine.
I was wondering what I should do. And I did not do any promotion with banners or emails. And I got deleted,I suppose. But My question still remains as above.“Can I satisfy minimum marketing requirement without list?”

    Hi again Herok

As I mentioned in a previous post, check the details. You came across one event where the conditions were put in place to attract only those contributors with large lists. Don't worry about those - there are plenty of other events where the conditions are minimal. Then get a couple of friends to sign up through your affiliate link to help you out.

Your comment about someone having the same ebook as you. That's taking the easy way out and not puting some effort into the gift you are providing. Find PLR products (there are a lot of sites where you can obtain free PLR products including our own free membership site
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
) and then you personalize the product ie re-write it in your words, change the graphics, monetize it with your own affiliate links etc. In other words, make the product your own and you finish up having an unique product.

Dont give up. It does take effort and it will take some time for your list to develop but its worth it in the long run.

    All rhe best.

    Hi All

Can I butt in here, another good thing to do with your autoresponder is to split it up.

Here is what i mean, i have products for sale on my own site, they are all linked to their own autoresponders.

    Facebook Product List
    Twitter Product List
    CPA Product List
    Crafts Product List
Scripts etc etc, all my products can be put into a category of some sort.

I have my General Aweber List, EVERYONE goes in there, Then the other lists that I have, are all setup so that if you buy from me or take a deal from me you get remoeved and deleted from my general list and go into my customer list for that product.

I only remove people from my general list into my paying lists, this helps me build up a list of buyers.

There is a product called BonusManager.com and this is a brilliant script you install on your site, you can add in your own bonuses, and upsells, load it till your happy, build it up with niche products, then when you do a giveaway, you dont need to work extra to add in upsells or gifts on your download page, you just associate a gift and an upsell to a giveaway, get the code and paste that on your thankyou.html page after they subscribe to your email to get your product.

Then in your thank you email with download instructions you put a link back to your bonus offer as a BONUS link.

    Just some ideas.

    Hey marilyn,

I have been using giveaways for a few years now and I have to agree with the consensus here, giveaways ROCK!!! I have been able to build lists in the thousands thanks to giveaways.

I enjoy giveaways so much so that I actually started created a software app which would make it easy for me to keep all my details, info, logins, gifts, downloads, etc... all nice and organized, no matter where on my PC the actual downloads, info sheets, etc. are located...

When I told a friend about this, she exclaimed that I should consider selling copies of my software...

    I decided she was right...

I am now putting some finishing touches on the software app (windows based) and will be looking for some beta testers. Would you be interested?

I will be charging $27 - $47 (depending on the rights I decide to release), but, for your testing efforts and honest feedback, I will send you a FREE serial key at the end of the testing as my way of saying thanks. Again, would you be interested in beta testing it for me once it is complete...

Also, for those as serious about giveaways as I was, you may want to

I've been asked why I like giveaways so much and why encourage others to enter giveaways. So here goes, are you ready?

    1. It builds your name recognition.

    2. It helps build your brand.

    3. It keeps you up to date with what others are promoting.

    4. You can download products for your own personal or business use.

    5. You can download products to give away and use them to promote your business.

    6. You can build your own very targeted list.

    7. When you upgrade, you can make money from the One Time Offers you enter. (I wish AOL would come up with a way to say "You've got money!" instead of "You've got mail!" when there's a receipt for payment in your in box. Wouldn't that be fun?)

So, how do you enter a giveaway? Here's what you need:

Create a new folder. Label it "Giveaway Records" I keep this as a main folder and add individual folders for each giveaway to this folder.

In this folder, you will keep all information you need for the giveaway. I use notepad to list all my information.

    You will need the following:

For your profile, you will need to enter the email address you're using for the giveaway and the password they've given you or that you have created. You will also need to put your picture in your giveaway folder, because they'll want you to include that in your profile. They'll also need your Clickbank ID, your PayPal nickname and your Twitter username.

    Your Giveaway Product:

    1. Product Name

    2. Product Image

    3. Short Description Of Your Product (around 50 characters)

    4. Product Description (up to 300 characters)

    5. Squeeze Page URL

    6. Direct Download URL (Here is where I put my thank you page with the download link.)

    7. Support Contact (Email address is what I use.)

You'll also want in this folder:

    1. Your unique link to invite contributors and the one to invite members after the giveaway goes live

    2. The giveaway rules

    3. The date the giveaway goes live

    4. The date the giveaway ends

    5. Copies of the emails to use for the giveaway

For those of you who do not have your own product to give away, go to my website on the 'find products' page. There you'll find three sites where you can access free private label rights products you may give away. Be sure to check out the license you get with the product and follow it to the letter.

Another question I often get is, "How do I promote a giveaway? I don't have a list!" I know what you mean. I had a hard time with that one, too. Here are a few ideas:

Email family and friends. Have them invite their friends. It's for a good cause, building your business. There are always products there they may find interesting.

    Twitter about it.

Contact your friends on social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, Ning, Yahoo and others. You CAN promote without a list. Use your imagination. DO NOT spam.

    Blog about it.

    Squidoo it.

    Twitter it.

I hope this gives you some ideas. Take the plunge, promote your business by participating in giveaways!
