Need a bit of help with setting up a Lead Page

Thanks to some good advice on this site I am about to create a newsletter campaign and give away a free report to any sign ups as well. However I need a bit of help as to how to set this up.
Did a search on google but got confused as usual. Are there any good free programs and does anyone know how I can easily set this up on my site? I have an autoresponder as well which I am trying to learn more about.
How do I easily create a capture/lead page and put it on my site? Once on the site should I make it my home page (already have a home page that I like) or can I put in down the side of the page?
Not sure how to go about this. Any advice is appreciated.

HI Chris,

Ok, it is good you have an autoresponder. That is a start.
Have you set it up to send emails automatically?
There are various programs you can use to create a squeeze page and a landing page. I am not sure if you know the difference.
I will dig up some reading material and email it to you so maybe that will help guide you.

Thanks heaps for that stuff Laurence. I am going to check it out today. Didn't know there was much of a difference between a squeeze and a landing page.
I am with traffic wave because of OBA/TEP so I thought I'd continue with them once my free trial expires so I can see if anything happens with TEP, but it will now be primarily used to build a subscriber list for my website. The implementation is the challenge for me now.
There are tutorials in there and I have had a little look but it hasn't sunk in yet. I have to write the content first and then I'll have a go at trying to set it up to send out emails. I have also done a draft FREE report but am not real sure how to make it look good enough to give value to those who sign up for it.

Thanks Eric.

I actually have a site and was hoping to put in on there but didn't really want to change the contents on my home page. I wasn't sure if I should put a little sidebar for a sign up, or if I can get away with putting the capture/squeeze page on another page and have a link to it from the home page.
I have a blog with blogger that I hardly use, but am not sure if I should put something on there too for a subscriber. Haven't had any traffic to it yet so not sure if I should invest too much time on the blog.
Appreciate the tips Eric. And good article by the way as I now know the difference between the 2. I am looking to put a squeeze page on my site.
