Anyone here used social marketing?

Hi all

As someone learning all there is to know about traffic generation for affiliate marketing, I have been noticing a few online have been pushing for Facebook and Twitter as two other forms of marketing and traffic creation.

I am just starting to get a grasp on what possibilities Facebook can offer, though not entirely sure I have the full idea, but not started with Twitter yet.

...and are there other social sites I can go to to generate more contacts and traffic?

What do you guys think? anyone got a presence like this on Facebook and how is it going for you?

Social media marketing is growing fast every year as a valiid markeing tool. There are literally hundreds of these websites, but I suggest you start with the main ones you already stated (Facebook and Twitter) and gradually add other popular ones like LinkedIn, Delicious, Digg and Stumbleupon. If you are using software to make the job easier you can then move on to use many more.

Thanks guys and wow Mattkerr, i thought there were a few out there, but that's just an Iceberg tip you say. Gonna be a bit busy methinks. But yes for now I will definitely focus on the big two I already mentioned. Though what software products are out there to make the job of using these sites easier then?

I have an account with both Twitter and Facebook.

Twitter, I have found hard to use, are there any tutorials that show how to use Social Media, I would like to use this Medium as a tool for my IM stuff, but find it all overwelming.

maybe Im'e a dummy when it comes to using this form.

Would appreciate some guidance on this, maybe a site or info product that shows how to use Social Media effectively, especially with IM

Yes we are using social media marketing for our clients, we don't have accounts on so many websites but we have a accounts on some websites and we are optimizing these profilesto generate some business for the client. I am aware that social me3dia is more about brading and traffic buit i think eveyr client expect some ROI on his invetmetn so we are making provisding some leads to client by intreacting with the people and suggesting the product and services which our client is offering.

I have been learning quite a bit about Facebook, there's a lot of ways to generate Traffic, but ultimately its all about getting people to like your fan page where your marketing should really take place. Anyone here thought about swapping likes? The more likes to your page the more chance of traffic. Is that allowed on this forum?

There is no problem with swapping likes as far as I am aware.

There are few websites which can be used to gain likes, follower, google +1's and other thumbs ups from the various social networks.

which you might find useful. I would not recommend using this as your primary source of likes but it can help you get that first hundred. Which in turn will allow you to chose your username for FB and add a little bit of credibility when proper visitors drop by your page.

People are more likely to hit like if they are not the first.

We will also be putting up a mini facebook course in the next week or so on the GTA site. I will let you know when it's ready.

If i could give you one piece of advice only it would have to be that you really do need to use your own squeeze page rather than the ready made CFM. Take a sentence or two from the page text and stick it into google with quotation marks ".............." and you will see just how many people are already using that same squeeze page.

I'm near Wolverhampton moved here last year from the even grimmer Walsall lol, off to Japan for a few weeks in April though, can't wait. I am only using the CFM ready made squeeze page as a stop gap, to get online while I try to build a site/page I feel good about. So many ideas in my head though, Chris warns about information overload, I just like finding out about new things

For those jumping on the social media bandwagon, don't forget to use Google+. They have now tied Google Plus results to Google search results and this can bring in a lot more traffic!

I use Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and StumbleUpon mainly. The only thing with Twitter is everybody is abusing the system. Check out the Twitter feed of most marketers and its all "buy this". It's still about building a community and sharing other people's stuff as well. I've started getting into the habit of only promoting my stuff for every 6 Tweets during the day.
