    I agree with Gary,

It's easy to be cynical when there is so much BS out there today.
I believe that this forum is a great source of helping to sort the valuable stuff from the pure BS.

Sometimes, if you go through enough of the bad stuff, you find a little gold nugget.

One of things that make the Richjerk unique is that he obviously didn't outsource the content writing.

It's true - you do find the odd nugget within all the crap every now and then (I have found several that have increased my knowledge base) and these nuggets can be bricks that build your edifice - the only problem is, it would take a long time, and do you have the time and the patience?

    Hi

There is a lot of BS out there however, the easiest way to cut through the BS is with absolute radical honesty. Never lie in your copy, testies or any other element.

This was the one criteria that was stipulated as crucial by Albert Lasker and upheld by many of the greats of copywriting.

BS and you'll gain the quick sale, but you'll lose the long game, and that's where the real money lies.

“I write persuasive and honest copy that communicates real benefits in a powerful ‘reason why’* style, I avoid the exaggerated, superhype, approach that may generate a large front-end response, followed by disppointed customers who cancel, don’t pay or fail to renew. I like to think that I’m helping my client to build a business, not just make a one time sale.” - Don Hauptman (Speak Spanish Like a Diplomat!")

That is an excellent question. In my prime I charged $250.00 for writing an SEO 500 word article with a guarantee. That guarantee was that if a client's article did not get at least 5 top 10 search engines listings, the job was free. I never paid a refund, and always had an abundance of clients.

Today, there are too many peddlers of poorly written material for $5.00. This is because they refuse to learn, and get very offensive to words like SEO. This places them stuck in a sinking and uncomfortable comfort zone.

It is amazing about all the hype about tons of links. These are suppose to perform miracles to push your search words higher. The top ten positions of 6,000,000 are awarded with 93% of the traffic.

I reviewed some statistics last week of some of the articles I did not do as a ghostwriter. On a major article directory, like EzineArticles, my knowledge of SEO, and writing techniques accounted for over 60% percent of the traffic came source. Another portion came from the quality of the article, to gain addition article site readers.

It is fine to write an article for fun. Yet, realize that article write is a weird shaped pyramid. It is extremely fat and wide on the bottom, then refining to a rapid peak. You should know that less than 50% of articles that readers start reading, are to boring for the reader to complete. That is quite a testimony of the state of article writing today.

Today super good is nice, but it takes skill to leap over everyone, using no links and end up in the first position for a search term. This translates to 40% of the total traffic. Believe me, this feat can be done, within 48 hours, with a single article launched from a PR 0 site.

If you want to be paid like a professional, develop the talent to work with professionals. Becoming a slave writer for those Clickbank get-rich-quick part time entrepreneurs will not pay your bills.

I have honed my copy writing skills by following a number of courses by Alan Forest Smith. You need to have confidence in your own ability though and believe that you can do it. It's also worth getting along to hear what Alan has to say at one of those free Internet Marketing events, as long as you realise that you may have to withstand the pitches to the hungry crowd by the speakers.
