I have several sites that all use hyphens, are "long tail" keywords in the url, and I have received lots of traffic on them. Thanks for the info.

The domain name you have greatly depends on your goals I would say.

For example, if you are just starting out and looking to create an online presence as well as build your business brand then the best option is to register your own name as your domain name. If you browse the web you will notice that a lot of very successful internet marketers started out this way.

Saying that if you are already established chances are you will have a blog installed on your own name, acting as a central hub and if you are creating products as a way to earn money online, then it only makes sense to have your product name as a domain name.

I suppose you could say this topic is merely down to the type of business you are running and the long term goals in mind.

You want a short, interesting name that applies to your topic and draws the reader in!
