Something that I have used is called wordweb:

I am not an affiliate - there is a free version and a "pro" version.
You down load it and it's icon sits on your task bar and all you have to do is highlight any word on your screen and click on the icon and you get the meaning and synonyms.
If it can't find your word it gives you a link to internet dictionaries.

Thanks for the tip Michael.
In Microsoft Word, if I right click a word, it gives me synonyms anyway, which is great because I hate using the same word over and over but sometimes draw a blank when trying to think of another one.
But I will check that suggestion out too.

I also tried it and yes it is handy, make sure that you also know how to use it for you to see its capabilities ;)
Well having the proper or right grammar and spelling is a huge thing specially when you are dealing with people you actually don't know and you don't see..Which came from different sides of the globe...Use the universal language accurately..

What do people think about spelling, grammar and punctuation?
How important is it to be accurate...in your opinion.
I will start by saying I believe it to be essential because it undermines people's credibility if material is badly written.

I think that both good Grammar and Spelling are very important too.
Without them the material appears slipshod and not worth reading.
Having said that I will probably make some mistakes here and be taken to task for it.
