Question Your opinion of PLR articles

I have been looking at the quality of some PLR articles and I am astounded at how poor it is. I would like to know whether others agree that this tends to be the case or if I have just found some bad batches.

I will be interested in the poll results.

I am amazed at the poor quality and that people actually sell poor quality packages.
I think it is quicker to write my own, as I would have to do a complete rewrite on any of the articles I have seen so far.

Mate I agree with you whole heartedly. I feel sorry for the authors of some of the stuff I have come across. Their self respect must be pretty average.

I have always taught to over deliver but I get a feeling there is quite a large group out there who don't really care if it doesn't read well, sometimes doesn't make sense, or whether whole paragraphs are repeated.

I guess they belong to the "means to an end" group.

    Cheers.

I also write my own. Even though I am blind in one eye I write better than most of the PLR stuff I have seen. That's sad to say because many people spend time writing that work.

I thought it was just the health niche.. I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm not at all good at writing, but I want to give a book (or report) out to get people to sign up to my list. I've seen a couple of 'good ebooks', but my partner says they're rubbish too (I'm not much of a reader either).

I'm so glad I'm part of this forum, at least I'd expect quality products come from (most) people here. It's unfortunate there aren't a lot focusing in the same niche as me (alternative health)

I agree the quality is awful. When I first started out I bought a package of PLR articles and couldn't believe how poor the standard was. It was that bad, that a lot of them didn't make any sense at all! So, needless to say, I had to rewrite all the articles again.
Now I write all my own so if they’re bad I’ve only myself too blame!!

There are vast quantities of horrible PLR because it is the easiest way to make a fast buck online other than selling custom writing. Not saying that writing is easy as I am a writer but I see so many newbies get told, "write articles" as a way to get some fast cash.

Well, no one says "write articles IF you can write decently"...so you get a lot of horrible writing. The sad part is that many PLR buyers are conditioned to pay super cheap prices and get low quality articles that they are hesitant to pay a little more to get high quality articles. Makes it a lot harder for those of us who try to provide a higher standard of PLR.

    I totally agree Tina.
I have some great clients who know the value of good consistent work.
But many out there don't and think that paying 50 cents per article is a good thing.

    Yes I see Tina's point,

I am new to the game and was introduced to PLR's as a source of content.

The quality of the PLR's on offer in my first foray into this area was.........appalling.

OK one bad grape doesn't spoil the bunch, but as a "brand" my attitude to PLR's was affected by that one example.

There will be good PLR's out there, but sadly the bad ones will colour our attitude to this market.

About 99% of PLR material I've seen is absolute rubbish (get what you pay for).

However, on a rare occasion you might come across an author or site that has some half decent stuff. If you do find it, stick with it as you'll take a long time to find another one like it.

OR ..(hint hint) you could just find yourself a great writer.

Actually I couldn't handle much more work right now anyway. I always seem to have plenty to do. But never hurts to mention it now and then (without trying to toot my own horn

A lot of the PLR stuff I came across when I was starting out was junk but now I know what I'm looking for and have a better understanding of what I expect from a product PLR or otherwise I know where to go for good products.

I think a lot of people expect PLR to be total junk as a lot of it is free.

I have a library of approximately 650,000 PLR articles on my computer. I have a nice litle program called search everything that is kind of like a desktop indexer the way Copernic is.

When I need an article on a particular subject, I use my search function to find an article that might be close. I always rewrite it, especially if I want to use some new keyword phrase. I don't think I have ever used a PLR article exactly the way it was written. Some have been really bad, almost as if they had been markoved, but others are fantastic and except from editing to reflect my particular purpose, can be used pretty much the way they are.

650000? wow that is a lot. I used to have about 100000 but I culled a lot of them because they were just taking up space and I didn't need them.

I think I collect PLR the way other people collect matchbooks and stamps...lol. I have an absolute ton of the stuff on my hard drive. I have some really high quality stuff and some dreck (more dreck than not). I've finally been going through and just binning the really horrible stuff. If I have to work too hard to fix it, it's not worth it to me. I can write from scratch quicker than doing a bunch of editing.

Now I purchase PLR quite a bit but I only purchase from people that I know provide high quality. With the good stuff, you don't even need to rewrite it as long as your re-format it. For example, I won't use articles as articles. Instead, I will take parts from a bunch of articles and put them together into a report. Or an ecourse or autoresponder series. Often I will weave my own thoughts into a short report and make it a much longer book (but with half the time into it). Or do the same with a couple articles and end up with a short report.
