Thread: What to say

Hi everyone, This may seem like a very strange question to a lot of you but its one I seem to be having problems with. I joined an online gift baskets and flowers company, basically I sell gift baskets and flowers online. I know you need to advertise, that's common sense. What my problem is I just don't know what to say to people. I have told a few people about it but to me I sound very unprofessional and my words just kind of tumble out. I just don't know how to start. What to say. How to make it sound like something interesting. I feel a bit foolish asking this, shouldn't I know how to "sell" my site? It's like I freeze up when I am about to say something. thanks for any advise.

Try practicing to one of your members of family. You will probably feel stupid to start with but it will help.

You just need to build your experience with it and then your confidence will come. I'm sure you'll do well!

Just make sure you don't give the kids your credit card.

thanks for the advice, maybe your right, just one of those things that you need to get comfortable with. and yeah got a feeling I will feel stupid at first. lol.

You could try this instead

if you have microsoft word, look in the menu for tools you will see speech

get this setup and start dictating your speech into txt

this is as close as you can get to Dragon Speaking Naturally for free

It takes a little learning curve to start, but it might be worth your while

Another use for this is writing unique articles

Read an article then speak it into your own words what you think the article is

If you have Skype, then you could work with someone who has experience with voice presentation to give you more confidence.
Coincidentally, I am such a person and so might be able to give you a little time to help you IF you are serious about it. With more than 30 years experience in all aspects of theatre AND more than 10 years of Telemarketing, management and training, I know I have the necessary skills to help if needed.

Hi nameless,

Do you have a pet?
Something that may work is to sit down and pretend that your dog, cat, or goldfish is a prospective customer.

Also, imagine that you are talking to a friend and describing your business.
the important thing is to talk naturally, on a one-to-one basis.

It may also help if you jotted down some notes about what you want to cover in dot point form, and record yourself on audio or video.

Here's my 2 cents worth

Sit down with a good friend and talk with her about what you have and ask her what she likes and tell her how you feel about your flower business and why you feel people would be better off getting them from you.

and then add the secret ingredient: RECORD ALL OF YOUR DISCUSSION

then go back through the recording and use it to make a presentation like you where talking to your good friend, and put it on your site as a video/audio of you discussing how you can help and serve people with there flowers as well as making a small flower tips pdf that people can download for free in exchange for there email.

I actually have the opposite trouble. When I'm explaining through typing, I can type what excites me about the product, explain what it is or what it does etc. However when I'm trying to explain it to someone face to face, or even on the phone, I'm a blank. If I do get some words out, it doesn't sound nearly as appealing as what's in my head lol
