    Default Deep linking

    Hi,
Can anyone help with a deep linking questions?
After submitting to 1000plus web directories can I re submit to the same list but with a deeper link from the same website?
Will this get me in trouble with google?

    Hi Y.

The bigger problem here is that usually links directories hold very little authority in Google's eyes (apart from DMOZ and the $299 annually Yahoo Directory).

Here is what Google's Matt Cutt's says on the issue (read between the lines too):

    Take out the spaces:

    youtube dot com / user / GoogleWebmasterHelp#p/u/104/1Pu1YWcIh04

    youtube dot com / user / GoogleWebmasterHelp#p/u/87/kXj73VDcSWk

I don't have enough posts yet for links...

TerryKyle - Great post. I wasn't aware of the Google Web Master Help channel on Youtube and I have been watching it for over an hour. They are answering so many of my questions and it is coming straight from the horses mouth so to say. Thanks a ton!

You'll find deep linking is not allowed by most directory sites. However a better idea is to use your deep links on article submissions and squidoo lenses etc...

Yeah I wouldn't resubmit the same website to directories. I'm pretty sure most of them would reject the submission and some might consider it spamming.

I usually use an automated program to submit my new sites to a few hundred directories just because it only takes a few minutes. But like TerryKyle, I'm really not convinced of how much effect it really has (except for the Yahoo Directory and DMOZ if you can get in).

If not giving much of a rankings boost, directories might help tell Google what your site is about and what topics it is relevant too which could indirectly help get traffic. Just speculation though...

Quickest and most effective way I have found it by submitting your sites rss feed to lots of RSS directories, every time you submit new content your rss feed send it out to the directories and gets lots of powerful links back to your new page.

Thanks for the Google Webmaster Channel on YouTube, there is so much information out there to sift through! Sure makes it easier when you are turned onto a good information source.
