Default Pt. 7: Life in Vegas and Another Incident

So, we lived in Las Vegas and Josh attended a wonderful Montessori school there. He was there for a few months, and then ended up getting a very bad bumpy rash called Molloscum Contagiosm. He was no longer allowed to attend as it was contagious. It would not go away with any treatments – he had one burned off, and we tried tea tree oil and all sorts of products that promised to make them go away. He was itchy and uncomfortable for many more months. We became pretty involved in an awesome church there and I asked a group of friends to pray for him. They did and within two weeks the bumps were all gone and he was all clear with that. We then spend or days swimming in the pool and getting to know everyone in the strangely quaint community, just miles off the Las Vegas strip. For fun we would swim and spend time with our friends there, then go to movies or to the Excalibur or Circus Circus to play games.

The Video I created here sums up everything we did over the time we stayed there:

As much as we loved it there, after 12 months we moved back to Wisconsin. All this traveling and the crazy adventures were incredible but it was time to grow up and get settled. Josh would be starting kindergarten soon and I realized Las Vegas was not the best place to raise a child – not by any means. So back to Wisconsin and we were renting a three story home on a lake outside of East Troy. To me it was a dream house. It was older, but had very large windows and a large deck overlooking the clear lake. I had thoughts and dreams about maybe buying it someday in the future. The lady who lived in it before we moved in, sadly passed away. So her son owned it and was my landlord. Right after moving in, my mom and step dad came by for a visit and some drama ensued after I was away at the store. Went with my mom and Josh to store, returned within 30 minutes to hear my step-dad tell me that the neighbor next door threatened to shoot and kill his dog because it was barking.

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing as I had just moved in. But it was true. Days later I opened my mailbox to see beer cans crushed up on top of my mail. Then I was upset and concerned for our safety, if the guy was so enraged so many days later, to do that. Eventually he apologized and I moved on from it and became friends with his wife.

My whole time at the beautiful home I was ill. This story I had to remove for personal reasons! But many of you read it already. So I will leave it at that.

Shortly after that we moved out and into a place in a small town outside of Madison, Wisconsin. The lavishness of how I used to live in the places I rented really didn’t seem necessary or important to me when moving here. I picked a place that was just right, not too big and ideal for my son to grow up in. My business and work online suffered immensely because of my lack of work over the last year when I was ill. I am now getting life back to normal and work back to where it was at.
At this point and time I am focusing on getting back into things, especially on the forum here and with my personal marketing business. If I wasn't an online marketer, and didn't create multiple income streams over the years, I don't know how I could have pulled through financially over the last year and being so ill. But we made it through everything and I am back in business thankfully! I posted this a few months back - and wanted to share that I am really excited about the marketing ventures I'm involved with online now - and I hope to get to know everyone who is reading this. I wish you the most successful and positive 2011! And I am sorry to those who are reading now and confused about the sickness I had...but I had to remove that...

Life is an adventure! I believe that if I can do this and keep this going through all the chaos, you can too. Just stay focused and follow through with the rest. Feel free to ask me for help if you need guidance or have questions.

Holly, I am amazed at your tale - and very, very pleased to find you are still with us!!

I thought it was you that had initially got me interested in this Forum, and now I see how it happened, I read a part of your story a couple of years ago, it seems a long, long time ago now - but I have not been as persistent or as successful as you On Line.

You've given me new inspiration - Thank you.

    Yours

    PS:
I lived in Malta for a couple of years in the 70's. My boys and I loved it but my wife Jean didn't like the heat or the lack of grass (and she's a townie at heart) and we were all glad to return to UK eventually and see our lovely green homeland again.

PPS: I only pretty recently discovered and began following Kelly Felix, and found he really wasn't much like his original OnLine-persona (thank goodness!).

Hi John - thanks for the comment. What a small world - Malta must have been a different place back then - but still lacking the grass and greenery. Even more so when I lived there - as there were buildings EVERYWHERE. Well it is nice to hear from you and I am glad you are re-inspired with the online marketing. I am also glad to hear of your positive experience with Kelly Felix - such a good thing and very different from his online persona.

Thank you so much Laurence - it means a lot to me and also that you opened up and shared your story. It is healing to share it - especially when you've gone through so much. You are inspiring to me with all that you've gone through and how you are using your love for writing to move on and continue your journey.

    Greetings Holly,

Your story is amazing and inspiring.

You and Josh have lived in several places, and experienced so many things.

I believe that you have found one of the best places in the world for Josh to go to school and make friends with very nice people.

I was raised in Illinois, and spent so much of my time in Wisconsin.

Thank you for sharing your travels and tribulations with us.

It seems to me, that God is watching over you ... there are many positive things in store for your future.

All the best to You and Josh ... Ron

Holly, I agree that sharing can unburden you from the stress. I did leave out some incidents for personal reasons but everything I have written is true and if it encourages others to share, then it is worth it.

I used to moderate on several mental health forums as I suffer from depression (although am improving) and found that very rewarding.

This forum is great because everyone is very supportive and that is the key to a successful forum.

Ron - thank you for the comment and I appreciate it so much - as I believe you're right about Wisconsin. Growing up I wanted nothing but to leave, but now that I have a son that's all changed. It's opened my eyes to how nice it is here - just beautiful and the people are so nice. We are not far from Illinois either - just near the border in southern Wisconsin. Thanks for the encouragement - I agree about God watching out for us.

Laurence - thank you again for sharing what you did. I understand about not sharing it all as it is personal. I left out some stuff too but tried to share as much as possible. I think that is so nice you used to moderate on some mental health forums. The thing is - most people don't talk about it but most people I know well enough who are friends with me, many of them have some sort of depression/anxiety and are taking something for it. It is SO common. I was on prozac years back to calm the anxiety/stress levels and it helped me but I thankfully didn't need it for too long. This forum is definitely a great support system. I am glad I am back on it now.

Well I am actually in a reversal period. I was on high doses of 2 anti depressants until the start of this year. The stronger of the 2 is now slowly being reduced and I am hoping I will be completely off that one by the end of the year. For me that is a huge breakthrough.
It has left me with a deeper understanding of people and situations and also given me experience on how to help others in a similar situation.

You have very interesting and encouraging stories, something like a "rags to riches" like thing. All newbies should read these encounters of yours to give them the inspiration to move forward.
I'm a newbie myself and after reading through your stories there is this tickling sensation to move on. Thanks for sharing.

Holly I loved reading all this. Your story is inspiring - ongoing. I know I've mentioned "Earthing" to you recently - and another gem I have learned about from a chronically ill friend is "The Healing Codes", (

    Hi Holly
I read your story from beginning to end and could not believe how you got through it at times. It is great that you have traveled so much but as you say eventually you have to settle down. You seemed to have battled illness and Josh looks adorable. May the rest of your life be a lot easier.

I really want to make it as an internet marketer and I believe that if you can do it I can too.

Thank you guys for the nice comments and health recommendations - i have looked up some of the stuff and I appreciate it. I know some of it will take time to get rid of the stuff in the body from the longterm exposure. I think the oxygen treatments we are set to have will help flush it out very fast too. Thanks again for the advice!

    Hi Holly

I enjoyed reading your story very much. I remember the Rich Jerk thing very well. In fact, I also had a product that did well on the back of that phenomenon, but I did manage to avoid Trademark infringement by naming the book 'How the Jerk got Rich'. This got the full product name into the title without any infringement. I included MRR and people are still selling it today.

It's great to see how things turned out so well for you.

    Good luck for the future.

    Will

That's the spirit, Sue, if she can make it you can make it. I'm still slow cause I have not even started to learn the basics. Slowly but surely I will make it.
    Wish the best of luck...
